The other day I learned a new word. "Social Distancing" are 2 words put together but means one thing to me i.e. "left alone"
If you put up a search on this word you will find a number of meanings to it. Its actually used as a defense mechanism to avoid the spread of pandemic, like in the case of Avian Influenza.
Actually I learned the word during a health and safety briefing from our company HSE on his short visit 2 days ago. The main topic was Avian Influenza and its a common practice recognized by WHO to socially distanced oneself from being in group or close proximity with masses of people where the disease could be easily propagate.
Sudan as far as I remember has not suffered any cases yet, however a while ago there was a scare about the ayam in the market where shipments of them ayam was stopped across the country. Its immediate effect was the price escalated to as an equivalent of RM80/ kilo. Being malay, same goes to the rest of my expatriate colleagues we felt the impact coz surely we could not palette "Kharuff" everyday.
Anyway, back to the main topic, putting to practice social distancing if ever a pandemic occurring here, would be unthinkable. Can u imagine only being a small malayian society avoiding each other would be tantamount to suicide. Its the teh tarik lepak session, shisha puffing, mandi laut, bbq, ping-pong game, karaoke and masak2 for supper that kept us sane while we suffered our 60 days of torture. Although the frequency of these session is becoming less frequent due to the dwindling numbers of clown or organizer, but it sure beats locking myself in my 6x4m cabin with stupid arabian TV.
then was the day when the work was in full swing, the teams halve by now..9 months on
Shisha session.. I quit smoking, but a lil bit of shisha once in a while wont kill right?
bbq session.. yes we caught those fish but..pakai umpan SD ;-)
pic taken june 10th.. u can count out the yellow jackets now..those are whose left behind now..
worst yet to come.. I hope wont be the last man standing here..
106 days to the birth of my third baby, InsyaAllah
42 days left till my R&R (..or demob)
